Washoe Valley has many breathtaking creations of nature in the spring and summer! The glorious dandelions are no exception!

Although we love to travel to other places, one of the most scenic is right in our own backyard: WASHOE VALLEY is a sight to behold! From all the little ponds that form on the ranch side of 395 to WASHOE LAKE, there are many different types of plant life and wild life. Granted, there are the beautiful cattle, horses, and sheep on the farms, but, remarkably, wonders don’t stop there. In the spring and summer, an abundance of ducks, blue and white herons, hawks, OWLS ( They zoom across the front of our vehicle lights constantly at night chasing the field mice that are scurrying across the road!), deer, coyotes, and there are a bunch of migrating white pelicans that have been showing up the past few years.

These beautiful American White Pelicans have shown up in Washoe Valley frequently over the past few summers!

One of the farm houses on the edge of EAST LAKE BLVD has some wonderful cacti that produce the MOST BEAUTIFUL pink blossoms in the heat of summertime! If one pays attention to the colorful wild flowers, cat tails, water lilies, and other magnificent shrubs and plants that inhabit this, often, breezy rural area, they will spot many VIBRANTLY PASTEL DRAGONFLIES whizzing by very quickly.

An abundance of greenery breathes deeply into Washoe Valley!

Now, I would be remiss if the natural wonders that really make this the Wild West were to be left out of the herd, so to speak: The wild, elegant, and gorgeous Mustangs roam freely throughout the SIERRA NEVADA MOUNTAINS and into the valley! They usually take a daily trip to Washoe Lake to drink and graze on the wild foliage and grass surrounding the water and can be spotted trotting together.

This is a place full of MAGICAL wonders between the SIERRA NEVADAS. When you are in this part of the world, come experience WASHOE VALLEY and the WILD WEST. Let us show you what it’s all about!
